This session will give an overview of the principles of recognising professional qualifications, both for professional recognition and academic transfer purposes. It includes information on the evaluation processes for recognising qualifications that typically fall outside of the national qualification systems, with examples taken from a variety of sectors including education, health, finance and maritime. There is information on the UK and international professional qualifications landscapes.
This course is recommended for professional bodies responsible for registering professionals, as well as university and college staff involved with entry to undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and professional credential evaluators, both in the UK and internationally. The course will also be useful to nationality and immigration solicitors, recruiters, work permit and visa agencies, and careers/guidance/refugee advisers.
The key objectives of the training are to:
- Develop an understanding of the credential evaluation principles for professional qualifications
- Explore the differences between academic and professional recognition
