Education in Middle East
Overview

This session will give a comprehensive overview of the structure of education systems in the Middle East (the Arabic speaking countries including North Africa as well as Iran) covering secondary education, vocational studies, higher education, accreditation and recent developments. It will also equip you to better understand original language documents and identify key features.

It will include practical guidelines on the interpretation and understanding of educational documentation from these countries, highlighting similarities in education systems between countries within the region.


Target Audience

This course is recommended for higher education admissions staff. The course will also be particularly useful to those regularly encountering qualifications from the region in various fields, envisaged to include; professional bodies, nationality & immigration solicitors, recruiters, work permit and visa agencies, careers/ refugee and asylum seekers advisers.



Objectives

The key objectives of the session are to:

  • Achieve an understanding of the structure of Middle Eastern education systems, including secondary, vocational/occupational and higher education
  • Identify and discuss key problems which arise when assessing qualifications from the Middle East
  • Develop the ability to identify and classify qualifications within the extensive range of awards available within each sector of these education systems
