Education in Latin America
Overview

This session gives an overview of the structure of the education systems in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. Topics covered include secondary qualifications, vocational education, higher education, qualification frameworks, accreditation and recent developments. The course includes practical guidance on understanding educational documentation from these countries as well as glossaries to assist with interpreting original language documents.

Recommended for university and college staff, professional bodies, recruiters, work permit and visa agencies, careers, guidance, refugee and asylum seekers advisers.



Objectives

The key objectives of the training are to:

  • Achieve an understanding of the structure of the education systems in these four countries including secondary, vocational and higher education and how these compare with the UK's education system
  • Identify and discuss key problems which arise when assessing qualifications from this region
  • Develop the ability to identify and classify qualifications within the extensive range of awards available within each sector of these education systems
