The objective of this study was to define a consistent approach within the NARIC Network to the assessment of certificates based partially or fully on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
The study, building on the findings of the Study of Formal Recognition and Non-Formal Learning, examined the criteria and processes employed by recognition centres in the evaluation of RPL certificates. By engaging the NARIC Network in the research survey on RPL, the study has helped to enhance awareness and discussion of RPL and its evaluation.
Whilst the study found there was still much to be done to enhance international recognition of RPL, the resulting recommendations of UK NARIC and partners on evaluating RPL continue to serve as a valuable tool for credential evaluators in the Network and globally.
