Increasing Transparency of Access Qualifications for Higher Education in Europe

In order to facilitate the work of higher education admissions departments and student mobility for higher education study, this project sought to develop a unique and effective resource providing value comparisons of upper secondary qualifications in Europe and their grading systems.

As a pilot project, the study focussed on a selection of 27 countries in Europe, conducting a literature review on grade comparison systems and in-depth research into the upper secondary school systems of each country and identifying awards which could be considered comparable to the overall GCE A Level standard (the typical entry qualification for higher education in the UK).
