• Supporting fair recognition of skills and qualifications
• Informing future development.

Optional targeted dissemination options can promote the findings of the study to a global audience over 900 member organisations worldwide, including universities, colleges, government agencies and professional bodies

The process for referencing English language tests outlined in the CEFR Manual informs Ecctis established methodology for CEFR referencing. All test providers are subject to the same three-stage process:

• We ask for documentation including past or specimen test papers, student samples, and quality assurance information.
• We conduct a desk-based review of the documentation, including the use of panels where relevant to analyse test questions and student responses. The review looks at how test questions assess different skills, what students are expected to do in the test, and how this aligns to the CEFR. There may also be a site visit to see how a qualification is delivered.
• We synthesise the findings into a summary referencing report detailing the methodology, key findings and any recommendations, and a clear, concise and visual executive summary, presenting the overall alignment of the test to level(s) on the CEFR where appropriate to support publication and dissemination of the findings.
